With the original Break Umbrella being a spin-off, I thought foreshadowing some stuff that would occur in the main story there would have worked

Natasha outright said “your free will depends on something”? Was I rushing the story that much?
This was an early reference to the Maten Project and Zenith, but because I wanted it to be a reveal at the end of the original spin-off (and the story was shorter), the build up to it was not as polished as I wanted.

Unlike in current canon, the children inside the pods never came out.
I think I didn’t picture the children inside the pods as already infected by Zenith. Because of the role I want the Maten Project and the Zenith virus later in the story, an earlier first encounter with it was required.
