Context
Break Umbrella first started as a Spin-off to another story (titled The Memorable Bittersweet Days) when I was under the “Talking Chalk” user name in 2021.
It managed to have two “arcs” and the start of a third:
- PRESENT – Related to TMBD’s events. Will not be shown again in a while
- BRILLANTIS – Pretty much the skeleton for Current BU chapters 1, 2, 3
- CRYSTALS – It has elements of Current BU chapters 6 and 7, but not as much as the “BRILLANTIS” arc
How this will be divided
Because the original run had 4-pages weekly chapter releases, and some of these “chapters” feel too short to leave comments, I decided to divide most of the reads in posts of 2 chapters like this:

All of these posts will be accompanied with my comments on what changed between this and the current version of Break Umbrella and why.
I hope this can at least be of help to other creators that are considering to remake their stories, other than that, I feel a bit naked showing these again.

Chiclen, William an Espinard Designs didn’t changed as much, but Téa’s and Glad’s did!
Regarding Glad, I wanted him to be shyer in 2021’s, and that was reflected in his more Emo-ish hairstyle.
For Téa, I started to have trouble with her hairstyle (since her earlier designs had what looked like a big dorito as her hair) and I didn’t want her to be confused with another blonde character from TMBD. The result in her current design is a hair that gets more “aggressive” as Téa’s develops and deals with her inner struggles, and experimenting with colors, I thought a darker skin tone looked better on her.
A small formula.
I changed the Brillanti Formula to be contained in something far bigger than a syringe to emphasize on how much it was needed to give a Brillanti their powers
Also, the VDS formula was also in a syringe, but due to its importance and appliances for future stories, it was the only one that made sense to keep in a syringe.
Time after time
Although the year is 998 S.E., Natasha is 28 in the first version, whereas in the current one she is almost 25 (not mentioned yet).
This will be seen later too, but all Brillantis are still teenagers in the 2021’s version, while in the current one almost everyone is an adult (no beer for you yet, Glad). There are reasons I prefer not to discuss now about this decision.
A factor I can mention, was that I wanted Chiclen and Natasha’s relation to be very sibling-like, in a sense of a boy who was always protected by his older sister, growing up to be an adult that feels obligated to protect her now.
